Omg Omg Omg hold up!!! Laura Mercier has obviously recognized the money maker that is the 'artist eye palette' and is releasing a new one now.... With a HUGE price increase so now it's $80 ..... Oh but it come with a sample mascara and a sample caviar eye stick... If that makes a difference

So the NEW Laura Mercier Artist Eye palette is out now at Nordies... (Oh Nordstrom you give me all the lyfe) and the price tag is well, needless to say its almost as surprising as it is disappointing. ALMOST.

When I bought the last palette it was $48 retail, I mean we can add tax, but that aint really what this is about boo. So imagine my shock when I saw the price of the newest edition of the "Laura Mercier Artist Eye Palette." Its $80 yall 80!!! like EIGHTY DOLLARS!! omg what what what are you doing Laura if that is your real name. Like what? who? what? what?

Ok Laura you had me at Hello, ok ive picked up 2 of the last 3 holiday palettes, and I love them. I use them A LOT! But girl, GIRL come on now girl. Like $80 dollars for realZ?? Its not that good.

I guess to balance it out they added a deluxe sample size of mascara, and a deluxe sample size of a caviar eye stick. Thats all really nice and for $48 i would have jumped on it, but for $80??? Um no Bae, no no boo boo, no can do. IF they were full size and thats a big IF (with capital letters) I could see the hefty $80 price tag, but deluxe size?? You obviously got frostbite in this winter wonderland weather we are having and it went straight to your brain. 

Thats almost a 100% price mark up.... Laura you aint that cute.

So i ask you will you be picking this one up even with the price increase?

Laura Mercier Holiday 2013 ~ Artist Eye Palette

Laura's offering this year is very exciting! I know, its a shocker that I am excited about new a new makeup release right? I missed out of last years holiday palette, and I still find myself thinking......... what if? Why did I wait so long? Well this year I did not go for a repeat makeup failure. I snatched it up quick from Sephora when I had a F&F code. Oh gurl, i'm glad i got it for sure.

Finger Swatches are sometimes a necessary demon....

12 colors that can produce a litany of looks from the lightest of wearable corporate appropriate day ware  all the way down (or up depending on how you look at it) to a sultry smokey eye. The colors include 6 matte shades 3 shimmer shades and 3 satin shades.

Sparkling Dew,  Guava,  African Violet 

Plum Smoke,  Kir Royal, Violet Ink

Vanilla Nuts,  Primrose,  Fresco

Bamboo,  Truffle,  Espresso

My only little thing which might or might not be an issue for some is that some of the shadows are so easily blendable that they can be over blended, and blended out to almost non-existant.

Here are some RAW thoughts on the colors in this baby.

Sparkling Dew- soft beige with a hint of shimmer but not really, maybe a sateen texture. Lovely inner corner, or base color. Close to MAC Orb

Guava- Shimmer-ish light pink. This does not give me chills its just nice.

African Violet- Typical shimmer texture and feel. A burgundy - brown mix. Pulls brown or purple depending on colored base. Similar in color tone (if that makes sense) to bamboo except that one is brown, so either a purple look or a brown look.

Plum Smoke- Matte. Mix of colors grey, purple, medium brown. Da BOMB for crease and blending out a sultry look. Plum Smoke + African Violet = love at first sight (think 6th grade when possibilities abounded)

Kir Royal- Texture of a shimmer without the shimmer. Satin? Applies like BUTTAH wow lovely color. Burberry Mulberry seems like a close dupe. Im thinking I have an Inglot color ???? Very close if not dead on.

Violet Ink- Matte dark purple....‘nough said. Along the lines of MAC Fig 1.

Vanilla Nuts- Matte my skin tone in a pan THE brow bone highlight for me. Thanks to Laura I will not need to use another shadow with any look I do.

Primrose- Pink shimmer much better color than Guava. Blends like buttah. 

Fresco- Matte. 2nd warmest in palette. Blends good, with almost a ruddy undertone.

Bamboo- Golden shimmery neutral. AKA brown yall. To base color is a bronze-y brown but the micro-micro shimmers in it are golden and flash with a hint of red, so it leans a little warm. When I look at it I think Inglot 402.

Truffle- Matte. Warmest color in the palette. IMO the best matte in the bunch. You would think that a matte chocolate brown would be easy to dupe but you would be wrong, I cant think of one off the top of my head.

Espresso Bean- Dark Matte Ashy brown pulls like a dark slate grey on me. LOTS of grey in this one. Best bet for outer corner or liner. Blendable not dry.

Swatchy, Swatchy

If you can get your hands on this, dont let it slip through your fingers. While it does lead a little warmer on my skin than I prefer, its still a winner. I am so glad I was able to get my hands on this one this year. This one is an all encompassing perfect travel palette for all skin tones, thanks to the depth of color choices. AH-maz-IN.

Laura Mercier: Caviar Eye StickZ

Laura Just takes my money on the regular.

The Laura Mercier 'Caviar' Stick Eye color..... Oh my Lawd these puppies ARE da shit. I have two colors Amethyst and Grey Pearl. This have a really good texture for the shadow pencil offerings out on the market now. Its emollient enough to spread gently on your lids without tugging. The only small issue I have with these is they do seem to apply a little bit darker than they look in the packaging, which is not really a thang. Amethyst is a cranberry-ish color with some interesting pink-purple shimmer. Grey Pearl is a taupe-y, beige-y, grey with a softer shimmer. I wear these with a primer and I go either way and wear them alone or with powder over. It should also be noted that during the blending process there is NO shimmer fallout. OK Laura just take some more of my money.

Laura Mercier gets me every time.....

Up until recently, I never would have called my self a highlighting fan. That was until July of 2013 which we shall forever memorialize as "HIGHlight-O-Pocalypse." I do not know what came over me, but all of a sudden I was raptured by the urgent desire, nay desperate need to be swimming in shimmery highlighters. 

This MAY have something to do with Mrs Laura's insistence on releasing yet another Limited Edition  highlighting powder. Spell bound is just..... i cant i cant...... its joy in a jumpsuit. Behold Rose Gold Goodness

I purchased this little beauty from Nordstrom, and at $42 for 10 grams, she aint cheap. So should you take the leap and make a commitment or just a one night stand? Well Nordies describes this as: 

"A beautiful face-illuminating hybrid product with a soft rose-gold shimmer perfect for highlighting. The unique formula based on high pearl levels provides buildable long-wearing color."

Now all that being said, what i can tell you is that this is not a run out the door, apply with a grubby finger and look instantly like a 15 yr old (Where is that?, ill take 2) type deal. It is so very pigmented that you will need to test out different application methods and find the best fit for you and your makeup style. I like taking a Real Techniques setting brush, and after diffusing the pigment a little one my hand, applying to my face-y face giving that ever-saught after candle-light glow. This is warmer in tone that i usually prefer, but hey....whatcha gonna do, right???

Issues: Yes the packaging is to big, and the closing mechanism opens to easily
