Jordana Eyeliner: Your kidding me right?? Epic Fail of the Week

0

What do you expect from a $1.99 Eyeliner?

I will admit I had low expectations going into this. I mean what can you expect from a $2 eyeliner from the drugstore? I was hoping for a soft smooth semi-opaque retractable eyeliner, well 1 out of 4 aint bad (woah wait a minute, yes it is). IT IS retractable ill give it that, but thats it.......

Ok where to start where to start? First of all, for a retractable cream style pencil the texture of this liner is very dense, because of this the color payoff suffers. Second of all, the color is "See through" at best and, if you prefer a "Soft Wash" (which I dont). It fades after 1.5 to 2.5 hours and AND heres the kicker ..... Makes my eyes water like I was sitting front row at the wedding of the great long lost love of my life to a stripper from Omaha.

But on the Upside ....... It is RETRACTABLE.

NARS WEEK: Smudge Proof Eyeshdadow Base

0

Holy Grail Time: The only Primer on da block

I really enjoyed talking about the Nars Pressed Powder yesterday. There is nothing like the feeling of  pulling out a product that you love, expressing that love, and blogging about said admiration on the internet.

So I decided i would dedicate a whole week to products from Nars. on today's menu is MY holy grail Nars product. The Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. This primer y'all. This primer. Its like liquid perfection in a tube. Let me explain

the trials and tribulations of photographing a black and white product on a black or white black ground #photoFAIL

luRve it! Personally, this works wonders for not only oily lids but allergy prone lids. This little gem is a god send! I have very oily lids, and extremely watery eyes. Allergies are the kryptonite to my makeup girl of steel! This holds up to both conditions wonderfully. The weepy eye situation usually looks like all the eyeshadow has worn of beginning at my tear duct and can even extend into the crease (zoinks batman). The oily lids??? its not pretty y'all I wake up with them, i have to have something in my arsenal to fight my never ending struggle and this is it. Ingredients include:

Isododecane, Talc, Cyclopentasiloxane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Vp/Eicosene Copolymer, Dimethicone, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Propylene Carbonate, Peg-40 Stearate, Sorbitan Olivate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Phenoxyethanol, Diethylhexyl Syringylidenemalonate, Oryza Sativa [Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil Extract], Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Castor Oil Phosphate, Sea Whip Extract, Mica, Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride).

So there are a few allergens in here that you need to be aware of like: talc, dimethicone, caster oil, bismuth, mica and etc. (totes not gluten free)
My best advice is start with a sample size if you can, always check for return policies before you buy, and most important do you research!!! Have you used any products with these ingredients in them before? Do a test patch if your not sure.
The application of this product is relatively easy with the product itself being "colorless." I would say colorless on most skin tones, deep and deep dark skin tones might have to take some extra care in placement as its not exactly translucent in my eyes. This can be applied with the fingers, but i do prefer a brush of all most all of my makeup.
Tip Time: Once you've hit the bottom of this baby, pull out the stopper and get another set of uses out of the tube.

Funny Story Time: When i was in beauty school..... the last time (we'll discuss later), the class that came in behind mine was learning how to dye (or tint if thats more your thang) eyebrows and the first thing you do is remove the eyeshadow. AND i having blonde eyebrows was asked to be a model, when i got the the class the students were already beginning to start here and there and as i sat down and the teacher walked over she asked me from standing behind me "Dee Dee are you wearing makeup?" To which i replied "Yep" then she walked around and saw that i was sporting a metallic blue arabic inspired eye makeup, then she laughed and told the girl "Good luck on getting that off" Well of course she was right the poor girl was still trying to remove my makeup while a good number of the students were preparing their final looks.

I was wearing This Nars primer, and a Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Shadow, and powder eyeshadows over top.

XOXO

Nars Pressed Powder in Flesh

0

Check out that pan PORN y'all.........

Nars pressed powder is $33 for 8g. It is a finely milled little powder that can be best described my me as a blotting or a touch up powder. Sephora says:

Nars Pressed Powder has a silky feel that will not cake on the skin, after multiple applications. Apply alone or over foundation for a soft, natural-looking finish.

AAAAaaannnndddd that where our opinions start to diverge, l do really like this powder a lot, but it will get cakey and and look quite chalky after various applications over the same foundation. So if your wearing makeup that will only need to be touched up 1 to 2 times this is for you. It is completely matte, and gives a "natural" almost dimensional finish. The issue lies in the situations where you will be needing to wear makeup for longer periods of time, and will need to touch up frequently. At the end of 4 to 5 touch ups over several hours you will look like the pie maker tossed a bag of confectioners sugar on your face. But then again after so many hours in makeup.....whats the big deal???

Anyways, i will not be re-purchasing this one, not because its bad or not good, just because it doesn't suit my makeup needs.

XOXO
Dee Dee

PS that is Sephora Precise Natural Powder Brush #121 now, sadly discontinued ya know because thats what they do with eveyrthing thats good.....

How much is to much when it comes to Social Media?

Facebook
(dare i Say?) my ______ (no i don't dare)
Tumbler

How many media sites are just enough? Is there a tipping point where your social networking becomes saturated and just annoying? Short answer YES there is a point where you can have too much social nets. (AhEm Amanda Bynes)

Social Media should not be about documenting every scrap of food you are thinking about much less eating, but about keeping in touch with friends, family and followers. Sharing major updates and funny or relevant annecdotes is more like it. When it comes to social media...... Less is more.

How many sites are you on? Me????? Hmmmm i think 7-9 but i dont post everyday on all of them, and i will often go weeks without any post online. So my question to you is do you have a limit to what your willing to share online? How many social nets are you on?
